“Unsearchable Riches”

Categories: Moment With The Master

To me, who am less than the least of all the saints, this grace was given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ,” (Ephesians 3:8)

Reflecting on his life before his conversion to Christ, Paul views himself as the least of all the saints. He was overwhelmed that God had conferred to him this ministry of grace. This grace was to preach the unsearchable riches of Christ. The very apex of human vocation is to share this marvelous message.

Paul uses two words – “unsearchable”, “riches” to convey the value of this message. “Riches” suggests the idea of wealth, value, or abundance. But, the riches of Christ are “unsearchable” – or untraceable. (see also Romans 11:33)  These two words provide a strong picture of the wealth of God‘s gospel.

The riches of Christ are unsearchable in “steadfastness“. They have withstood the onslaught of religious critics and skeptics. Voltaire, the famous French philosopher, once made a very bold statement: “One hundred years from today the Bible will be a forgotten book.” In spite of such claims, the verdict remains the same, God‘s word is sure.

The riches of Christ are in unsearchable with timeless truths. Some may say the Bible is too antiquated for the needs of modern society. However, they have been proven wrong. Christ has for 2000 years offered purpose, peace, assurance, and direction. He still touches the hearts and lives of those who receive him.

The riches of Christ are unsearchable in love. God is able to lift one dead in sin and make him his own child. “But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.” (Ephesians 2:4-6)

The blessings of the Gospel are more precious than gold. There is no greater gift than sweet forgiveness, and having the guilt of every sin removed. The fellowship of God provides a peace that cannot be offered by anyone or anything in this world.

If you have not received it, dear reader, will you accept God’s offer? Or, if you are a believer, my dear brother, graciously share the message with the world.
